About the Artist

Ordinary Life is Fascinating

Painting is hands-on, heart-filled joy

As an artist, I am fascinated by ordinary life.  I am touched by expressions on faces caught at just the crucial moment.  I could spend hours watching cows quietly grazing in a field of wildflowers.  I feel the love of pets looking adoringly at their owners or excitedly at their toys.  I am thrilled by the colors and light represented in every season.  I treasure the smell of grass and the feel of a breeze across my face.  My work as an artist is about hands-on, heart-filled, everyday joy.

I have been painting for forty years.  My style of painting is realism mixed with impressionism.  I enjoy the use of colors and different lighting to express the feeling of the image or subject I am reproducing.  I use oils on either linen board or stretched canvas.

I live in a small town in the country and am inspired by my surroundings- the rolling landscape, the grazing cows, and the wide open skies. I am inspired by the history of this place and often reproduce lovely old buildings and abandoned houses that, to me, tell stories.  I am also an avid portrait painter.  My love is painting pets--dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, etc.
